8thThis rugged and remote golf course, about 2 miles from Ballyferriter village, is one of the hidden gems of Ireland. With stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, Smerwick Harbour, The Blasket Islands, Ceann Sibéal, The Three Sisters, and the mountains of Corca Dhuibhne and larks singing overhead, a difficult day on the course doesn’t mean that you won’t enjoy the experience.

The Par 72, 6,737 yard course was designed by Eddie Hackett & Christy O’Connor Jnr. and is the most westerly golf course in Ireland. It is a challenging and testing links course, where a little winding stream washes many a golf ball. The stream is brought in to play on 12 of the holes. Strategically placed bunkers are placed throughout the course to make it an even more challenging experience.

golf1Every hole has a name in Gaelic. The 9th hole (Index 1) is a long uphill Par 4 with a tricky elevated green, is aptly named “Ifreann”, which in English means “Hell.” The signature hole is the 10th hole which is called An Tiaracht. The tee-box on this hole has spectacular views of the rocky Tiaracht Island.

A warm Irish welcome awaits you from Steve and the staff of the golf club. The restaurant and bar in the Clubhouse offers wonderful food with panoramic views in a relaxed and unwinding atmosphere.

Unlike many parklands golf courses, Ceann Sibéal rarely closes due to weather conditions as the salt air from the sea keeps the course frost and ice free. Ceann Sibéal Golf Course is very attractive for Corporate or Golf Society outings not only for the golfing experience, but also because of the scenery, culture and craic that Corca Dhuibhne has to offer.
