FISHING

Ferriter's Cove is very popular for shore angling and rock fishing. Catches include mackerel, cod, sea bass, coalfish, cod, dab, dogfish, flounder, pollack and ballan wrasse. Many shore angling competitions have been held in the Cove. At high tide it is not unusual to see shoals of flounder in the waters where the stream from golf course enters the sea.

The waters around the Dingle Peninsula contain an abundance of sea life, including dolphins, whales, sunfish, blue sharks, basking sharks, conger eels, gurnard, wrasse, tope, mackerel, pollack, mullet, dog fish, ray, bass, plaice, whiting and turtles. Cloghane River, Lough Annascaul and the Owenascaul River are good locations for game angling. Good places for shore fishing are at Inch, Ventry, Clogher Beach, Smerwick Harbour and of course Ferriter's Cove. Deep Sea Fishing can be organised at the quay in Dingle.
